Villa Bed and Breakfast in Daytona Beach, FL

Travelers looking for something other than accommodations in the more crowded beach area of Daytona will be thrilled to find the 1920s Florida Spanish-style mansion that now houses The Villa Bed and Breakfast. Somewhat removed from the hustle and bustle of the busier parts of the city, The Villa B&B provides something a little different yet still puts guests within walking distance of the famous beach.

The Villa itself sits within a residential neighborhood of Daytona Beach and has been lovingly restored by the present owner. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Homes and is filled with fine antiques and period furnishings that allow it to maintain its original look. The home once belonged to Mr. Bartholomew J. Donnelly, a wealthy Boston-area resident who made his fortune in marble and granite. Donnelly had the home built as his winter residence in 1929. After his death in 1935, the property was sold twice, purchased by the present owner of the B&B in 1992.

Covered with pink textured stucco, The Villa is quintessentially Florida Spanish and the lush landscaping of the 1. 75 acre property completes the picture. Guests at this lovely B&B have the opportunity to choose from four different rooms, all named after important individuals in Spanish history. All the rooms have private bathrooms. Bed configuration varies but all rooms sleep only 2 people, making this an ideal location for a romantic couples’ getaway. Guests may also opt to rent the entire mansion for group outings, reunions, weddings, or other special events. Some of the rooms have a private balcony (one has a hot tub on the balcony), and all have televisions with DVD players, alarm clocks, air conditioning and heat, and wireless internet availability.

Outside, The Villa has its own inground swimming pool and hot tub for the use of its guests. Several of the rooms overlook the attractive pool area. The sunning area is very private, surrounded by shrubs and walls of flowers. Inside, there’s a formal living area, large dining room, breakfast room, and a library/entertainment room, all available for the use of the B&B’s guests.

Guests can have free use of beach bikes and beach chairs during the duration of their stay and are welcome to check out movies from The Villa’s video library. The staff is warm and accommodating and eager to please. The Villa offers some internet specials as well as reduced rates at certain times of the year. The owners have also designed romantic anniversary and birthday one-night stays that include champagne and strawberries, fresh-cut flowers, a romantic dinner at a local restaurant, expanded continental breakfast, sunset wine and appetizers, private hot tub, and two Villa robes.

The Villa is also suitable for weddings and can accommodate up to about 100 people for a reception. Ceremonies can be performed inside the home or outside by the fountain and the wedding guests are granted full use of the public areas. Outside caterers are brought in to take care of the food.

In general, this lodging option is best suited for adults as the home is filled with antiques and other fragile furnishings that could be damaged by little hands and rooms are not large enough to accommodate families.
