Ocean Walk Village in Daytona Beach, FL
Dubbed a “District within a Destination”, Daytona Beach’s fabulous Ocean Walk Village occupies about 6 square blocks near the part of the beach where no vehicle traffic is allowed. It cost about a billion dollars to build this new entertainment and meeting complex, which currently consists of two lodging options – the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort and the Wyndham Ocean Walk Vacation Condominium Rentals – as well as a bevy of shops and the Ocean Center, which is a venue for sporting events, concerts, or meetings of various sizes. In all, the village offers about 1,400 guest rooms and some 300,000 square feet of meeting space.
The Ocean Walk Shoppes at Ocean Walk Village is a collection of upscale retail establishments that sell a wide variety of wares. Here, you’ll find some well-known stores but you can also check out some unique boutiques and shops that sell jewelry, clothing, gift items, candles, surf wear and gear, and more. The shops are easily accessible to the general public and are close to the hotels as well. Also located at the Ocean Walk Shoppes are a few places to grab a bite to eat. The most popular are Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Company and Johnny Rockets but you’ll also find a handful of take-out eateries as well including a sub shop, pizza place, ice cream parlor, and coffee bar. There’s also a 10-screen theater at this complex, showing the latest in first-run movies of all varieties.
The Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort includes 744 guest rooms and suites as well as seven choices for dining, ranging from an ocean front grill to a sports bar to a few more formal options. The hotel also includes a complete fitness center that is complimentary for all guests; pools, whirlpools, and a sun deck; D-Dawg’s Kidzone, which offers a place for supervised and unsupervised kid’s activities; and the beautiful Spa at the Hilton. Twenty-nine meeting rooms are available as well.
At the Wyndham Ocean Walk, guests can rent 1, 2, or 3 bedroom condominium accommodations, all of which include full living areas and kitchens. Many include multiple bathrooms, washers and dryers, and great views of the Atlantic Ocean. Onsite activities include two indoor and three outdoor pools, a lazy river and water slide, a game room, and a 9-hole miniature golf course. A professional staff of activities directors organizes special activities for all ages every day of the week including supervised children’s activities. There’s also an option to purchase in this resort and rent out the unit when not in use by you or your family and friends.
The Ocean Center, just across the street from the Hilton, is a very flexible and versatile facility that can accommodate everything from huge banquets and concerts to sporting events and trade shows. Visitors to Ocean Center can take in the annual Daytona Beach Garden Show or the Fall Boat Show, enjoy a collegiate basketball event, listen to a symphony orchestra concert, and much more, all inside the facility that has become Central Florida’s premiere meeting and convention destination.
