How to Get to Daytona Beach, FL
No matter where you are in the U.S. or even beyond, it isn’t too difficult to get to “The World’s Most Famous Beach.” Because Daytona Beach is a popular tourist destination – and it’s located just 60 miles from the world’s most visited vacation spot, Walt Disney World – getting here is a breeze and is often quite affordable.
· By car – Of course, the length of time it takes to reach Daytona Beach by automobile depends on from where you’re coming. However, because it is located at the intersection of two major thoroughfares – Interstates 95 and 4 – the city is quite easy to reach by car. The hotels here have more than ample parking for guests with cars and there is a limited amount of on-street parking as well. Once you get to Daytona Beach, you probably won’t need your car to get around unless you’re leaving Daytona to seek out more fun attractions, restaurants, and activities.
· By plane – There are a few options to consider when heading to Daytona Beach via airplane. The Daytona Beach International Airport, in operation since 1928 and originally known as the Daytona Beach Municipal Airport, accommodates flights coming from Charlotte and Atlanta. That means those traveling from elsewhere will need to make a connection in one of those two cities on Delta or U.S. Airways. For many travelers, the better option is to fly to Orlando International Airport, which has direct flights arriving from all over the world. Once in Orlando, travelers can either rent a car or secure some other form of transportation to get to Daytona Beach. Out-of-town shuttles run regularly to Volusia County from the airport and include Daytona Beach among their stops. An Amtrak station is located about 12 miles from Orlando Airport and can be accessed via a local bus line. In addition, there is a Greyhound terminal located 13 miles from the airport, providing yet another way to get from Orlando to Daytona.
· Bus – Greyhound will not only get you from the airport to Daytona, but it can also get you from just about anywhere in the country to this beach destination, even though you won’t always be able to enjoy a direct route. In some instances, transfers from one route to another will be necessary. However, if you have the time and flexibility, bus fare to Daytona Beach can be quite affordable, especially from many Eastern Seaboard cities.
·
Train – Daytona Beach is also reachable via
Amtrak. The Amtrak station is actually located in nearby Deland, Florida,
but once travelers reach DeLand, there is a bus available to take them to
Daytona Beach. Both the train and bus rides can be scheduled through
Amtrak’s reservation service.
