Daytona Lagoon Water Park in Daytona Beach, FL

Central Florida can get pretty hot, especially during the toasty summer months, so cooling off at an area water park is an item that’s on the agenda of many visitors. The premiere water park in the area is the well-known Daytona Lagoon, a family fun center that is much more than just a water attraction.

The water park portion of Daytona Lagoon uses about a million gallons of water a day to entertain its guests. Rides at the water park include such notables as Blackbeard’s Revenge, a 62-foot tower with a dark slide and tunnel; Panama Jacks, complete with 3 different slides – the Canyon, Cave, and Cavern; Adventure Mountain, two high slalom-like slides; Pelican’s Drift, a mild, flowing lazy river suitable for all ages; and Kraken’s Conquest, a ProRacer-series speed slide with four lanes where you can race your friends to see who gets to the bottom first. For the whole family, there is also a 500,000 gallon wave pool with swells that range from gentle to gnarly, and Castaway Bay, a themed play structure with water guns, climbing nets, and more. Waterpark admission fees are on a daily basis with a reduced-price admission available after 4 pm.

In the dry portion of Daytona Lagoon, there are a number of other options for family entertainment. The Grand Prix Go-Kart Raceway is an appropriate attraction for the town where auto racing is king. Patrons can choose from single or double seat cars and enjoy a series of twists and turns in this fun activity. Height restrictions apply.

Other dry attractions include The Phoenix, which is a newly-opened thrill ride that swings riders backward and forward up to heights of about 100 feet; a 25-foot-tall rock wall; three 9-hole miniature golf courses that wind artfully through the go-kart track and water park; an old-fashioned carousel; a few additional indoor rides; and a 3,000 square foot laser tag arena filled with fog and pulsating music. Dry attractions may be paid for on an as used basis or patrons may buy a 2- or 3- hour wristband for unlimited usage during that time period. There’s also an arcade on site.

Daytona Lagoon welcomes group outings and encourages adults to come and enjoy the park as part of a teambuilding exercise. The onsite Gilligan’s Sports Bar and Grill includes a private meeting room for group get-togethers as well as a main dining room with billiards tables and 10 high-definition televisions for game viewing.

Birthday parties are also commonplace at Daytona Lagoon and are offered at different price levels. Most include room rental, a party host, pizza and drinks, paper goods, balloons, and a t-shirt for the birthday child as well as rides and arcade tokens. Parties should be scheduled well in advance.

The water park portion of Daytona Lagoon is open seasonally with varying hours. The dry attractions are open 7 days a week during peak season and Thursday through Sunday during other times of the year. Again, hours vary, with shorter hours from early October to early March. The park is located across the street from the new $1 billion Ocean Walk Village.
