Voted by the Travel Channel as one of the top flea markets in the United States, the enormous Daytona Flea and Farmers Market is a huge hit with both Daytona Beach locals and tourists just visiting the area. Also lauded by USA Weekend magazine as a top five flea market pick, this area institution is crowded nearly all year long and remains one of the top tourist must-dos in the Daytona area.
Organizers of this massive farmers market say that about 2.5 million people visit it each year. There are about 1,000 booths here and currently about 600 different vendors. A visit to the Daytona Flea and Farmers Market requires several hours if you truly want to cover the entire destination. A large portion of the booths are located inside a one-story structure so that shopping is easily accomplished in all weather. Others are located outside in the usually-pleasant Daytona sunshine.The 600 vendors at this flea and farmers market sell a huge variety of goods including some that are unique to this particular market. Vendors are generally local entrepreneurs and many are local artisans who come to the market to peddle their creations to the general public. Some handmade products available for sale at the Daytona Flea and Farmers Market include jewelry, fine art including paintings and sculpture, dolls, blown glass, candles, ceramics, wind chimes, bird houses, and much more. There are also a number of antique dealers, clothing and accessory shops, and other booths that sell unique gift items like NASCAR memorabilia and more. Vendors also peddle homemade foods like salsa, cheeses, jams, and breads and other baked goods. Flower and exotic plant vendors are also commonplace as are merchants that sell home décor and home improvement items, like tiles and book shelves. There’s even a waterless car wash, a teeth whitening booth, and a tattoo and body piercing vendor at the Daytona Flea and Farmers Market!
Hungry shoppers will stumble upon an occasional snack booth that sells delicious items like nuts, dried fruit, popcorn, and other finger foods as well as fresh-squeezed Florida orange and grapefruit juice. There’s also a seafood stand and other places where shoppers can grab a more sizeable meal.
Throughout the year, a number of special events are held in the market area including antique or specialty car shows, fundraisers, and more. Families can also rent a table in the garage sale section of the market for just a small fee and sell their own items for a day to the thousands that make their way through the facility each weekend. Booths can also be rented on a short-term basis up to a month at a time.
The Daytona Flea and Farmers Market is open every
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout the year from 9 am to 5 pm, rain or
shine. Hours may vary during certain times of the year. Admission and
parking are both free. The market is most crowded first thing in the morning
with crowds thinning out as the day progresses.
