Camping in Daytona Beach, FL
Lodging in Daytona Beach is plentiful and quite varied.
But while many travelers opt for renting an oceanfront condo or securing a
room in a hotel just steps from the beach, avid campers often choose to
arrive in their RV. And unlike some beach destinations, Daytona Beach has
more than enough facilities to accommodate those who wish to do some camping
while they’re in town, either in their vehicle or in tents or cabins.
Because of the NASCAR presence in Daytona, the town is
accustomed to accommodating a bunch of people who prefer camping to hotels.
As a matter of fact, some fans wouldn’t think about arriving at the races
any other way and the track provides space on its own property for visitors
with trailers and motor homes. There are also campgrounds in other parts of
town, as well as in the towns that surround Daytona Beach. In addition, some
of the state parks provide camping facilities for visitors as well. Listed
below are some of the options for campers heading to Daytona Beach.
- Daytona International Speedway – Camping sites at
the speedway are sold in conjunction with the races being held there at
a particular time, like the Daytona 200 motorcycle race, Speedweeks
(Daytona 500), the Rolex 24, and the Fall Cycle Scene. Sites are sold as
packages which include the campsite itself, infield admission for two, a
car pass for those arriving separately from the RV, and free admission
to the infield for kids under 12. RVers can choose from several
different locations. Tent camping is also available in the Orange
camping area and offers similar perks to the RV packages.
- Daytona Speedway KOA – Situated about a mile and a
half from the race track, this campground is near the Daytona Flea and
Farmer’s Market. There are 350 sites at this large facility as well as a
pool, playground, and a large recreation hall which can accommodate
group events. Specials are available during race and bike weeks.
- International RV Park and Campground – This
attractive campground boasts 1,500 square foot sites that can
accommodate RVs as big as 40 feet. The sites also include hookups for 50
Amp/240 volt electric as well as water and sewer. Some sites also have
concrete pads and/or picnic tables. There are pull-through sites
available as well. Part of this facility is set aside as a nature
preserve and includes a pond that has been stocked for fishing. Wildlife
sighting is not unusual. There’s also a swimming pool, playground,
laundry area, wireless internet in the office, restrooms with showers,
and a general store.
- Seaside Park Campground – Located in Ormond Beach,
this campground has 45 sites for RVs. Each slot has electrical hook-up
and water/sewer. The premium slots provide an amazing view of the ocean.
Pool and deck, restrooms, and laundry facilities are available.
- Sunshine Holiday RV Park – This campground has a
number of different sites ranging from Premium, with a paved pad and
patio with picnic table, to standard pull-throughs with just water and
electric hook-up. There’s also a rustic tent area. Guest amenities
include heated outdoor pool and wireless internet availability.
- Tomoka State Park – Tomoka has 100 campsites all
with electric, water, a grill, and a picnic table. They accommodate
vehicles up to 34 feet. There’s a dump station within the park and there
are also three bath houses with hot showers. There’s also a playground
on site. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance. Boating
and fishing can be enjoyed within the park and canoe rentals are
available at the park store.
